**Disclosure: I did receive a complimentary Degustabox to bring you this review. No other compensation was received. All opinions are 100% my own.
Summer is always a time of fun surprises! So, this is the perfect time to receive a box full of goodies! This month, I received a box from Degustabox full of an array of food items to check out. Degustabox is a monthly subscription box service introducing recipients to 10-15 food items per month, many of which are not currently on the market. The items are actually full size rather than sample sizes, so you get a better understanding of the product. Of course, we were quite intrigued when our box arrived and could not wait to open it.
What's inside? |
Our Degustabox came with SO MANY items in it, I kept forgetting to get one or two in the picture. So, we had many retakes!
Inside our box, we found:
- 2 bottles of Topo Chico Mineral Water
- 4 packages of Wise Popcorn
- 1 bottle of Briannas Italian Vinaigrette
- 3 packages of Vita Coco Coconut Oil
- 1 jar of Jif Peanut Butter with Cinnamon
- 2 packages of Orchard Valley Nuts
- 1 package of Haribo
- 1 container of Elmhurst Valley walnut milk
- 1 bottle of Soy Vay Teriyaki Sauce
- 1 package of Honees Cough Drops
Some product details |
The box also includes a handy information sheet with bullet points about the products and companies represented, an intro to Degustabox including ways to earn a free box and coupons. More fun!
Some of Our Degustabox Discoveries:
The first product we tried was Briannas Italian Vinaigrette. We have a garden bursting with red lettuce, so a logical choice! We typically make our own salad dressings, so my curiosity was stoked. The dressing does not include HFCS nor transfat--a plus. While added, sugar does not rank as one of the first few ingredients which is also nice. I did find that the dressing had a fresher flavor than I am accustomed to from a bottle. A nice dressing and discovery!
On our beach trip, we toted along our Orchard Valley Harvest snacks. We ended up enjoying the Cranberry Almond Cashew Trail Mix for a little pick-me-up in between meals while on our trip. Nice!
One of my friends has been encouraging me to try different alternative milks. With the arrival of my Elmhurst Harvest Chocolate Walnut Milk, the time was right! The milk is shelf stable but I would recommend refrigerating it first. The drink includes vitamins A, E, B12 and D along with calcium--so a health boost. I did find the drink a bit sweet for my taste yet a bit refreshing on a warm day. Odd as it may sound, it may taste good on a French Vanilla Ice Cream. Overall, I do feel it is wise to have shelf stable milk around in case of an emergency.
Topo Chico Product of the Month
Each month, Degustabox has one product specially highlighted. This month Topo Chico, a mineral water from Mexico, earns the honor. Topo Chico has been bottled since 1895 at its source. Legend has it that an Aztec Princess was carried to this vary spring when she was ill. Miraculously, she was cured after drinking and bathing in the water.
One thing I really love in the summer is a cool, crisp bottled beverage! We immediately popped our Topo Chico bottles into the fridge. They came out cool and crisp as desired! I used one bottle to add some fizz to my iced tea. I made a refreshing berry iced tea. After chilling, I poured the iced tea into a glass and added some Topo Chico. I filled the glass 3/4 full with iced tea, 1/4 with Topo Chico. To add a little more frivolity, I had made flower ice cubes with blueberries in them. I plopped two of them in. Voila, a cool and quenching drink!
A little relaxation:
I was thrilled to see coconut oil in my package! I have been wanting to try some with my essential oils! I popped open one package of the Vita Coco and mixed it with a little lavender and rosemary for a relaxing rubber. I loved the feel of the oil--pretty decadent!
