Fall Harvest, Corn Mazes, Local Fare and More Fall Fun in Beloit and Janesville, Wisconsin
**Disclosure: Thank you to Visit Beloit and Janesville CVB for hosting my family's visit to Beloit and Janesville.
A family weekend exploring fall flavors, sites and sounds of Beloit and Janesville, Wisconsin and becoming familiar with each city's unique local charm was just what we needed to get away from our busy school and work schedule. We quickly found that Beloit and Janesville provide the perfect combination for fun family weekend in the fall and also encourage more exploration throughout the year. We had a fabulous weekend and I hope that you follow along on my new series to learn about all of the truly local experiences we discovered. Of course, this time of year is all about the harvest so we began our journey exploring the Beloit Farmers' Market as well as interesting small businesses in downtown Beloit:

We quickly learned that the region is ripe for nature exploration year round. I already have spots earmarked for warmer weather! On this visit, we took in the fall hues at golden hour at the Rotary Botanical Gardens:
Along the Rock River, we hiked at Devil's Staircase enjoying a slightly rugged trail with magnificent views:

Reveling in the Comforts of Fall:
Pumpkins, corn mazes and apples all bring that warm, cozy, comforting fall feel. We were fortunate to experience all of these amazing fall feels during our visit. Who wouldn't stop for a delicious and fresh apple cider donut at Beloit's Apple Hut?

Later in our trip, we twisted and turned through two mazes at Skelly's Farm Market in Janesville. Of course, we also had to revel in the pumpkin fun as well!

Local Flavors:
We savored local flavors and enjoyed a plethora of local foodie stops in both Beloit and Janesville during our stay. We have quite a bit to share including our farm breakfast at Double B Farm where we also met goats!

Locally Made Items:
In addition to foodie items, we discovered other locally made items on our visit including Dirty Bear Soap in Beloit where you can pick up some of the most imaginative soaps I have ever seen. Hello --- perfect for gift giving!

Where to Stay: Hampton Inn Beloit
We found the Hampton Inn Beloit to be a wonderful option for a family fall getaway. The accommodations inside the Hampton Inn are spacious and perfect for a family of explorers. The refrigerator in the room is a necessity for a family on the go -- I like to have one to keep some food to pack for our excursions as well as to keep our leftovers. The Hampton Inn also has a pool which is often a necessity for those of us with kids and was in close proximity to food. Yay!
After a long day of exploring, we NEEDED a wonderful and comfy room like this:
We found the staff at the Hampton Inn in Beloit to be incredibly nice and helpful. Of course, I think my daughter was swayed by the Otis Spunkmeyer cookies in the evening! Breakfast in the morning is always a plus as well! The Hampton Inn Beloit is a great choice for families on their getaway!
