One of our highly anticipated summer events every year is the Bristol Renaissance Faire. The Renaissance Faire provides us with a day of magic where we really get away from everything.
The first year I attended the Faire, I was very impressed. The Faire is vibrant, full of flair at every corner. There are many activities and shows. Surprisingly, there is a huge food selection. I expected the food selection to be comparable to that of Medieval Times. However, there is much, much more. Not to be missed---the strawberry gelato draped in chocolate and the butterfly potatoes. In fact, the website even details vegan and vegetarian options at the Faire.
The Faire abounds with spirited entertainment. In fact, the whole Faire is the entertainment and you can participate as much or as little as you want. My daughter loves to go to the children's area where she was engaged in interactive shows. She has helped tell stories and has even gone to "Pirate School." Arghhhh! The periodic parades will definitely get you moving and who can miss the Mud Show!
Of course, when mentioning the Faire, how can you not mention the characters! It is really great to get into the spirit of things. We like to look for the fairies. My daughter loves to be part of the festival and usually dresses up---sometimes as a fairy, sometimes as a princess.
The one thing that you will definitely need to watch for, though, is the cost. The Renaissance Faire has different options for purchasing tickets with differing prices that you can check on their website. Currently, Living Social is running a deal. Additionally, there are sometimes coupons available. Besides the tickets, you will also want to budget for food, rides, and other events that may have an additional fee.
The Renaissance Faire began last weekend and is running through September 3rd. It is held Saturdays, Sundays and Labor Day from 10AM-7PM. The fun can be found at 12550 120th Ave., Kenosha, WI 53142.
There is so much fun to be had that we pretty much spend an entire day at the Faire. (In fact, there have been some years that we have gone more than oncce!) We are looking forward to being a part of the fun again this year!
