A Little Time and a Keyboard: Peppermint Chains---Adding Simple Holiday Detail

Peppermint Chains---Adding Simple Holiday Detail

Sunday, December 16, 2012

Back when Kat and I went to a craft fair in November, I spied a cute peppermint chain. The chain was simple but had the potential to add some easy and affordable holiday charm. Plus, I am a total fan of the peppermint, so having a chain or two of them around is alright by me! After my husband snagged several bags of peppermints, I set off to make some chains.

To make my peppermint chains, I used:
  • peppermints
  • curling ribbon
  • scissors
  • butter knife (for curling the ribbons)
Assembling the chains is really simple. In fact, my seven-year-old was able to assemble some (with a little assistance).

I cut my ribbon into pieces that were about 7-8 inches long. You can cut your pieces before or cut them while assembling the chains (which is what I did). To tie the peppermints together, I lined up the knots in the wrapping of two pieces of peppermint. Then, I tied a piece of ribbon around the knots. It is important to keep these knots lined up so that the peppermints are tied well together.

The knots are lined up for tying.

I double knotted the ribbon. I attached the desired amount of peppermints this way. Lastly, I curled each ribbon.

Adorable and easy peppermint chains! My daughter and I have been adding them to some gifts to add a little flair. You can use them to add a little holiday wonderment throughout the house!
