The weather outside has been so frightful---and we have been spoiling ourselves with a few treats to survive. Before the snow last week, we visited Couture Cupcake Cafe in Kildeer and we are so glad that we did! Couture Cupcake Cafe has been on my list for awhile but finding a time that I deem worthy of such an indulgence has been very hard to come by. Since our New Year's trip was dashed by the weather, I figured that a luscious temptation was much deserved. Cue Couture Cupcake Cafe......
Couture Cupcake Cafe has an impressive menu of delights including savory, vegan, gluten free, low sugar and low calorie options. From the cupcakes available during our visit, it took us a bit of time to settle on one. In the end, the Jimmy Choo, a French and Belgian chocolate chunk cake topped with chocolate icing and a dark chocolate curl, won. Our cupcake was placed in a secure box for safe keeping until we arrived home. Once at home, it was time to enjoy!
The cake was nice and moist with little chocolatey chunk surprises! {The kind of surprises I like!} There was a little salt to the cake which was actually intriguing--and I am not a salt fan. We loved the curl. The icing was creamy and a provided a nice chocolate cap to the indulgence.
After enjoying our treat, I know that I would like to try some of Couture Cupcake Cafe's other selections. If cupcakes aren't your thing, they also have gelato and a large offering of coffee and tea choices. Couture Cupcake Cafe also shares a space with Rock n Roll a la Mode in Palatine and will be opening another location in Wilmette.
