We hope that everyone enjoyed our series uncovering Hendricks and Morgan Counties in Indiana. We had an amazing time, found many treasures, met wonderful people and---gasp---relaxed! For those following us from the Chicagoland area, the drive to the Hendricks County area is about 3.5-4 hours. This makes the area ideally located for a long weekend getaway. Both counties are close to Indianapolis. If you are already heading to Indy, you can easily make a stop at one or two of the places we visited!

During our visit, we stayed at the Staybridge Suites in Plainfield. We had a glorious, spacious room with a kitchen which is definitely a plus when on the road with kids! The room was clean, the staff was great and there was a nice breakfast buffet with more fruit than I traditionally see at hotel breakfast buffets.

Next to the hotel, we found Chateau Thomas Winery which provided us with a nice respite after our long drive. The winery has a pleasant selection of lovingly crafted wines. You can enjoy a tasting or sit down at a table to enjoy a small plate with a glass of your favorite wine. During our tasting, we learned a bit about the process. The grapes are shipped from California, Oregon and Washington State but are crushed and fermented at the Plainfield winery. My husband and I enjoyed the different selections on the wine list and settled on a bottle of Tosca to bring back. One thing to note--if you have your child with you, you can still enjoy a tasting. However, your child will need to sit away from the bar which is not a huge ordeal since the cafe area is within sight of the bar. Also, note that there is a sizable gift shop worth browsing. A fun place to have next to your hotel!

We came home from Hendricks and Morgan Counties fully relaxed yet inspired! Our discoveries in Hendricks and Morgan Counties show how much is to be gained by going a bit off of the beaten path. Such a beautiful area with friendly people! One last tip--make sure to walk a bit around the towns in Morgan and Hendricks County. We were enchanted by a number of the homes we found tucked away from the main streets! What a road trip!

A house that caught our attention in Danville.
