**Disclosure: Thank you Wilmington for sponsoring our visit and providing us with complimentary meals in order to conduct accurate reviews. No compensation was received. All opinions are 100% my own.
Our journeys throughout Wilmington certainly left us pretty hungry! Fortunately, there is a healthy mix of eating establishments throughout the town fitting a variety of themes. You can easily find the type of cuisine that you are looking for!
During our visit, we sampled three different eateries in the Wilmington area. Each restaurant had its own unique flavors and all three were family-friendly, so great for your family vacation!
A Relaxing Sit-down Meal at The Pilot House
After our visit to the Cape Fear Museum and our historic carriage ride, we were mighty hungry and ready for a bit of a rest! We found The Pilot House pleasantly situated along the Cape Fear River on the Riverwalk. The restaurant is housed in a historic building built in 1870 and boasts lovely views of the river. Having been outside for some time, we opted to sit indoors which was absolutely charming.
We found the menu sizable and easily found items fitting all of our palates. Being a shorebird originally from New Jersey, I HAD to start with the seafood chowder which was AMAZING!
Next, we tried the tomato avocado stack which was simple but to our tastes.
My daughter had the kids fettucine alfredo. I was actually shocked that she order this---she never has before--but she loved it!
My husband had an Italian beef-type of sandwich which was one of the specials. He loved the sandwich and it was quickly gone, gone, gone!
I had a mixed green salad with kalamata olives, feta, cucumbers, tomatoes and a shallot vinaigrette. I enjoyed the salad but the dressing was bit light on flavor for me. All in all a good restaurant and we would happily return!
A Quick Bite at Slice of Life
In the evening, we needed a quick bite before heading over to our Ghost Tour (which I will tell you about in an upcoming post.) For our quick dinner, we tried a Slice of Life Pizzeria located not far from the Riverwalk.
Slice of Life is one of those places that will easily make the kiddos happy. Friendly staff, good pizza and nice salads. Yes, they have salads!
Tip: There is a daily parking lot near Slice of Life where we paid to park for the evening while exploring and enjoying the ghost tour.
Hops Supply Co. Serves Up Family Friendly Meals in a Sleek Atmosphere
For another lunch in Wilmington, we tried Hops Supply Co. Hops has a very sleek interior yet is family-friendly. So, the eatery works for a lunch with the fam or even a place for a little night out fun! Of particular note are Hops' bourbon flights which are not often seen on menus. Cool! Of course, they have plenty of other fun libations as well! On weekdays, Hops features "lunch flights" where patrons can choose 2 or 3 items from a daily selection of artisan sandwiches, soups, salads and sides. The deal is exceptionally reasonable so really great when on a budget!
For my lunch, I had a salmon salad featuring strawberries, green apple and bleu cheese. The entree included a healthy portion of salmon and definitely was filling. Plus, I always appreciate a meal that includes a nice mix of vegetation.
My daughter ordered the kids' chicken fingers which were a nice size. Along with them, she opted for a fruit couple and I was delighted, of course!
My husband dove into a lunch flight including barbecue chicken sliders on special that day, a side salad and chips. What a meal!
Solid Food that Makes Families Happy
Wilmington has plenty of family-friendly dining options for culinary enjoyment. There are many near the Riverwalk and other places of touristic curiosity so no matter where you are in town, you will easily find somewhere to sit back, relax and enjoy a meal!
