As I listen to sleet pelt my window, the realization that winter here in Chicago can be tough and bleak is hitting. I am always searching for inspirations to leave the house to lift my spirits during the winter months. Yesterday, my family uncovered quite the hidden gem in Glenview and we are already eager to return! The Rock House provides a warm, unique atmosphere that is part coffee house and part rock-n-roll. Truly a place for a little bit of a warm up in winter!

Yesterday, we visited for the coffee. With its main location in Wilmette, The Rock House is truly a local institution that even roasts its own coffee allowing their handcrafted coffee beverages include that special loving touch. I had a ginger spice latte which was amazing! My daughter enjoyed a raspberry hot chocolate and my husband savored a cappuccino. The Rock House does have a selection of mixins and combos--not the largest range I have seen but enough for your to switch up your beverage here and there. A nice winter treat!

While we loved our winter warm ups, our taste buds were certainly intrigued by Rock House's Grilled Cheese Bar. We enjoyed mixing and matching the various combo options in our heads, dreaming up sandwiches we would like to try. We had just eaten lunch, so we were not ready to indulge just yet. However, a return visit is certainly in order this winter--grilled cheese is quite the cold weather comfort! If you are not that enamored with grilled cheese, Rock House has other options including a hummus plate, quiche, Barnaby's pizza, pastries and more.

The focal point of the the coffee house is a stage with a set of drums. Not your ordinary coffee house! Rock House also provides a venue for musical acts and karaoke. The shop also holds rock music lessons! Plus, there is a shop with some cool goods including vinyl!

All around, a fun place to kick back and relax! Not that into coffee? They also have smoothies plus beer and wine--which may be quite enjoyable while listening to live entertainment! We are looking forward to trying those grilled cheeses in the future.......
