Champagne Tasting Experience at Vin Chicago Barrington! Cheers!

Wow! We had so much fun at the annual Champagne Tasting at Vin Chicago in Barrington a couple of weeks ago! I can easily see how this event is a perennial favorite. Initially, I thought the concept of trying over 30 champagnes may be a tad overwhelming. I do like a little bit of an adventure but would such a sampling hold my interest and would I really notice differences between the wines? Hmmmm.......

The style for the tasting was a free flow design rather than a rigid one. Serving tables spread throughout the store made it easy for guests to fan out. Each guest received a pamphlet with the list of champagnes and sparkling wines to be tasted. We could easily note by each which we enjoyed and which we did not. With champagne glasses in hand, my husband and I embarked on our adventure and found the evening not only to be informative but lighthearted and fun!

Fun reigns at Vin Chicago!

Each table featured a range of champagnes and sparkling wines from throughout the world. By the time the evening was through, we enjoyed wines from familiar champagne strongholds like Reims, France as well as learned of sparkling wine made in places we never knew they were like Oregon! Vin really assembled a marvelous tasting adventure and I left amazed that throughout the night I could still taste the differences between the wines rather than the last few tastes tasting merely like all the rest!

The entire evening Vin was abuzz with a cheerful holiday spirit! Everyone was out to have fun and we had a pleasant time chit chatting with other couples. A delightful mood and wonderful launch into the holidays!

When assembling a tasting, Vin chose wines with a range of profiles and price points. An advantage to this tasting--we were able to taste some higher-end champagnes such as Veuve Clicquot and Moet & Chandon! Yes, we were able to be a tad "fancy" for this evening. Cheers! But, we also tasted quite a range of champagnes and sparkling wines in our price range. So while spoiling ourselves, we were able to hone in on some wines perfect for our special occasions.

Special tasting events like the annual Champagne Tasting at Vin Chicago are very fun and a festive option for a date night. A healthy spread of items to nosh on was provided by I do recommend eating a little bit before your adventure. We would take a bit of a break after each table to nibble a little bit. The one thing I wish Vin Chicago would add to the festivities is a few little bistro tables for people to use for noshing a bit in between tastes. Otherwise, the whole night was delightful and something to add on your list for possible night out ideas.

The entire staff at Vin Chicago is very knowledgeable and approachable. If you need help choosing wines during this holiday season, I definitely recommend a visit to Vin Chicago! The welcoming staff will help you choose from a wide range of selections. Saturdays are an especially fun time to go to enjoy free tastings from 12PM-4PM!
