Need some help keeping the kiddos busy this Spring Break? Here are some local ideas:
March 18 - May 21 Simply Spring Butterfly Exhibit, Nicholas Conservatory in Rockford, butterflies fly freely in the conservatory, $6 resident, $8 non, $4 and $6 for seniors, kids 5-17 and veterans, Ages 3-4 $2, under 3 free, check website for times.
March 27-31 Free Spring Break Movies at Paragon Theater in Arlington Heights, 10AM each day, list of movies on website
March 27-31 Walk-In Spring Activities at Raupp Museum in Buffalo Grove, 1PM-3:30PM, different activity each day, see Buffalo Grove Park District FB for more info, free
March 27-31 Willowbrook Nature Center in Glen Ellyn, 9AM-5PM, see where local wildlife is taken to be rehabilitated, plenty of resident animals to visit with, free but donation is appreciated
March 27-31 Cosley Zoo in Wheaton, 10AM-4PM, home to domestic farm animals and native wildlife, Wheaton residents are free, all kids are free, adults ages 18-54 $7, seniors 55+ $6
March 27, 30 & 31 Spring Break Spruce Up, Kline Creek Farm in West Chicago, 10AM-4PM, help clean up the farm & other activities, take tour of farmhouse, free
March 28-30 Kids Day Out in Palatine, 2PM-5PM, $8 per child, open gym and open turf, crafts, games, must register
March 28: Spring Breakout Adventure at Rolling Knolls in Elgin; 10AM-2PM, practice archery, explore wildlife, practice navigation skills, free
March 29-30 Spring Break Camp: Creative Exploration at Crabtree Nature Center in Barrington, 9:30AM-12:00PM, $10, explore nature and be inspired to create your own artwork, ages 7-10, register in person
March 29: Camping 101 Camp Reinberg in Palatine; learn basic camping skills, free, 5:30PM
March 29: Morkes Chocolate Walk in Day, Palatine, 1PM-4PM, create chocolate treats, $9 per person
March 29 Ready for Spring Drop in Program, Elk Grove Historical Museum, 2:30PM-5:30PM, tour of farmhouse, make a craft and more, free for members, $1 for non
March 30: Dinosaur Hunters at Morton Grove Public Library 2PM-3PM; join paleontologist Lisa Zago for an educational dig through her dinosaur bones and fossils, free
March 31 Free Fridays at Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art in Elmhurst, 10AM-5PM, rock and mineral specimens, carved jade and other stones, stone dioramas and more.
