If you have been following this blog for awhile, you know that I have an affinity for chocolate. So, I definitely had to make a new chocolate discovery on our recent trip. I checked for something en route and found Maumee Valley Chocolate and Candy in Maumee, Ohio not too far from Toledo.
Maumee Valley Chocolate and Candy is a chocolate lovers paradise. The chocolate counter is full of temptations including creams, mints, caramels, truffles and fudges. A lot to choose from and all fresh! Surrounding the chocolate counter, we were greeted with displays of other chocolate creations including chocolate covered pretzels and grahams as well as chocolate pops.
The shop also provides a retro candy haven with all of those childhood favorites. Additionally, there is a whole wall full of bottled beverages. The choices! Maumee Valley Chocolate and Candy truly gives meaning to "a kid in a candy store." I was certainly wide-eyed while walking around. For this visit I settled mainly on chocolate -- a couple salted dark chocolate caramels, a chocolate dipped pretzel, a chocolate lollipop, a couple of caramels and two buckeyes. I could not miss out on an Ohio buckeye!
Our buckeyes did not make it home and my husband and I enjoyed ours in the car. Very delicious! What a lovely small business and great place to stop. It is located in Downtown Maumee, so a nice option for stretching your legs while enjoying a treat!
