When we walked in, we noted the lovely brick walls. I later learned that the restaurant is housed in a storefront from the early 20th century. The exposed brick is original to the building and gives the restaurant a warm and cozy feel.
One advantage to eating without the kids -- you can actually take time to peruse the menu! We took so long to read the menu that our server had to return several times for the order. There were so many interesting things on the menu, it took us quite awhile to choose our meals. Of course, we did settle on wine! Funny that was so quick because 1913 offers 80+ wines by the bottle!
For my dinner, I opted to have a salad and a shrimp appetizer. The combo was perfect for a dinner that was enjoyable yet not overdoing it! The Greens Salad was great and full of veggies, but I do wish the parmesan crisp was a tad bigger.
The shrimp appetizer consisted of grilled shrimp and spinach in a lemon butter caper sauce. Incredible!
My husband began his meal with French onion soup. Decadently yummy!
He also savored a pasta. The soup and pasta made for a great combo and he even had some to take home.
Overall, a fabulous meal and a wonderful restaurant with attentive service. We found a new date night spot!
