Stroll on State in Rockford, Illinois November 25, 2017

Stroll on State in Rockford, Illinois is coming up on November 25, 2017 and is a FANTASTIC way to kick off the holidays. The festival encompasses several streets in downtown Rockford and along the Rock River bursting with holiday fun. There.Is.A.Ton.To.Do! The event is in its fifth year and we are happy to make the trip this year. If you are looking for something to do next weekend, I highly recommend putting this on your list. This visit will actually be our second --- so you can tell that we love it!

The event has an incredible amount of entertainment which will certainly put your family into the holiday mood. Live reindeer, wagon rides, ice skating, s'mores stations, a Santa visit, ice carving, performances and more make for a memorable experience.

Hot Chocolate Station 

Stroll on State happens to be on Small Business Saturday, so also the perfect time to enjoy small businesses in downtown Rockford. There also are special vendors in a holiday market. Last year, we enjoyed perusing the market and bobbing in and out of local stores. We ended up eating dinner at a great cafe and look forward to returning this year!

Stroll on State magical holiday lights along the Rock River 

Of course, my favorite part happens to be the lights! They are so magical along the Rock River.

Ok -- I also love seeing the Fire and Ice ice carvings ablaze! Spectacular!

The event also has a parade which has been largely expanded this year. The parade will include holiday festive floats, high school marching bands and parade balloons!

Entertainment is both outdoors and indoors including musical numbers, dance and ice carving. Check the Stroll on State website for more detailed information.

Stroll on State is on November 25, 2017 from 2PM-9PM. The event is free, some activities have a small fee. But, most are free. The event truly has something for everyone and is a magnificent way to begin the holiday season.

Tips:

• Dress for the weather.
• There is a restroom in the City Hall and port-a-potties around.
• Hot chocolate is a must as a treat and to keep warm!
• Check the schedule that is posted throughout.
• Arrive early if you wish to park close. Otherwise, take advantage of the many shuttle stops provided.
