Last year, we experienced the Norge Ski Jump in Fox River Grove, Illinois for the first time and now we are hooked! We had so much fun watching talented ski jumpers compete -- each jump a thrill!
This year's International Winter Tournament is January 27 & 28. The event has been an area tradition since 1905! Many families have been coming for years and we are so happy to join them. The exhilaration in the crowd is hard not to pick up! Members of Norge Ski Club have had international success including Mike Glasder earning a spot on the 2018 U.S. Olympic Ski Team. So awesome!
We arrived last year around 11AM and ate a little picnic lunch in our car before going in. (No carry-in food permitted.) There will be food to purchase inside including brats, hot dogs, pizza and more. We were able to bring in lawn chairs and blankets. I do highly recommend wearing boots because you will probably be standing on some snow. Plus, dress warm!
The event runs from 12PM-4PM both January 27 & 28 with gates opening at 11AM. Admission is $10 per button purchased at local merchants, $11 online or $15 at the gate. Free admission for kids 12 and under. Check the website for info on wear to purchase buttons if purchasing early. If the lot is full, there are shuttles. However, I recommend arriving early.
Tips:
- Bring chairs and blankets
- Bring snacks & drinks for tailgating before
- Purchase buttons in advance at local retailers for a discount
- Make sure you stay hydrated. Even in winter dehydration can be an issue.
- Food and drinks are available for purchase.
- Have fun!
