Coquelicot Gallery and Cafe is a new addition to the Chicago suburbs supporting independent artisans and providing an elegant space where the public can enjoy coffee, tea, light bites and art. I must admit the first two things that drew me to Coquelicot Gallery was the allure of loose leaf tea and the ability to peruse art including locally made items. When you enter Coquelicot, you feel that you are in a refined yet welcoming space.
I ordered a pot of tea. My husband ordered a coffee and a Tiramisu Mousse which is locally made by Dream Cakes in Northbrook. My daughter could not resist the Chocolate Bomb also made by Dream Cakes. Coquelicot also has a number of salads and wraps as well as locally made Kimmer's Ice Cream.
The desserts were delicious. A much needed treat! We visited on a very cold day, so you can see our trek was worth it!
Lovely gallery of paintings |
Different art mediums are represented including jewelry, pottery and fabric. One of the owners creates some of the stunning jewelry. Makers are from all over the world including our local area are represented in the gallery.
Back to the tea -- the tea is Arbor Tea from Michigan and perfect for sipping and relaxing.
We discovered another local haven in the Chicago suburbs! I love that Coquelicot blends a cafe and art giving you the opportunity to pause and stay awhile. A nice place for a respite and maybe to pick up a new treasure! What does Coquelicot mean you may ask? It is French for Poppy. The name is pretty and invites curiosity. Curiosity is definitely what will bring us back to see new art each time!
