Wednesday Weekend Windup {Glass Pumpkin Patch, Scarecrows and Fall Fests}

Another fall weekend ahead with plenty of festivals in the Chicago suburbs! Here are my picks for the weekend ahead:

Thursday, October 11:

• October 11-14 Glass Pumpkin Patch, Morton Arboretum, demos,exhibit and more, see schedule, free with admission

Friday, October 12:

• October 12 & 13 Oktoberfest, Mount Prospect, Oct 12 4PM-11PM; Oct 13 4PM-11PM, German music and food

Saturday, October 13:

• October 13 & 14 Open House Chicago with some sites in Evanston and Oak Park, architectural gems in Chicago open their doors to the community for free, see list
• October 13 Fall Festival, Cantigny Park, Wheaton, 10AM-4PM, live music, scarecrow juggling show, face painting, petting zoo and more, $5 parking, small fees for some activities
• October 13 Long Grove Scarecrow Day, Downtown Long Grove, 11AM-4PM, $5 pp for hay bale, wood base and guidance, please bring your own clothes, leftovers will be donated
• October 13 Fall Festival at Palatine Stables, Palatine, 11AM-3PM, petting zoo, wagon rides, craft fair, kids zones, scarecrow decorating, pony rides and more, free admission, tickets for some activities
• October 13&14 Pumpkin Weekends, Blackberry Farm, Aurora, 11AM-4PM, seasonal crafts, corn crib, trick-or-treating and more, $7 pp
• October 13 Scarecrow Fest, Memorial Park, Barrington, 11AM-2PM, pumpkin and cookie decorating, scarecrow building, pony rides and more, free
• October 13 Fall Paddle Fest,  Skokie Lagoons, Northfield, 11AM-3PM, canoe trips, guided hikes, archery, pumpkin painting and more, free
• October 13 Family Fall Fest, Mount Prospect, 1PM-4PM, hayrides, build a scarecrow and more, long trick-or-treat line, free
• October 13 Oaktoberfest, Far Field Nature Preserve, Barrington, 1PM-3PM, bonfire, learn about seed collecting, plant natives and more, please bring shovels and gloves, free
• October 13 Free Trail Walk at The Grove, Glenview, 2PM
• October 13 Autumnfest, Meadowhill Park, Northbrook, 2PM-6PM, s'mores, storytellers, reptile show, inflatables, pumpkin patch and more, see schedule, free admission
• October 13-14  Walking Plays The Grimmest of Ghost Tales, Morton Arboretum, Lisle, 3:00PM, $20 per adult, $15 per child
• October 13-14 Family Jack-O-Lantern Hikes, Morton Arboretum, Lisle, 6PM-8:30PM, times vary, go on a jack-o-lantern lit hike, decorate pumpkins, roast marshmallows, $19 per nonmember, $16 per member

Sunday, October 14:

• October 14 Free Oaktober Tree Trot, The Grove, Glenview, 9:30AM-10:30AM, guided hike to help you learn about Illinois trees, free but you must register
• October 14 Fall Festival at Danada, Wheaton, 11AM-3PM,equestrian performances, hayrides, pony rides, grooming demos and more, free, fees for some activities
• October 14 Oktoberfest in Evanston, celebrating local food and craft beer, family activities
