- November 17-January 1 Illumination at Morton Arboretum, interactive light experience in the trees, special events on certain days, see schedule, closed Mondays except December 31, closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas, see website for ticketing details -- I recommend reserving tickets in advance!

- November 23-January 6 Wonderland Express, Chicago Botanic Garden, hours vary, Adults: $11 members/$13 nonmembers, Children ages 3 to 12 and seniors over age 62: $8 members/$10 nonmembers, Children 2 and under: Free; parking fees apply
- November 23-December 30 Festival of Lights and Tree Sale, Cosley Zoo, Wheaton, lights go on at 3PM, zoo is by donation during festival, closed Christmas Day, zoo closes at noon December 24, fun lights and displays are set up around the zoo
Friday, November 23:
- November 23 Light Up the Park Rosemont, tree lighting at 5:30PM, free ice skating 11AM-11PM, Santa visits 3PM-7PM, carolers 5PM-8PM and more
- November 23 Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, North School Park, Arlington Heights, 4PM-9PM, free
- November 23-24 Holiday Homecoming, St. Charles, Lighting of the Lights Friday at 5PM, Electric Parade Sat at 5:30PM, Saturday: horse drawn carriage rides 1PM-4:30PM, Santa House 1PM-4PM, Live Store Windows, 1PM-5PM, free
- November 23-24 Santa visits The Wildbird Shack, 2PM-4PM, free but bring a camera
- November 23 Tree Lighting, Elk Grove Village, 4:00PM, culminates with fireworks
- November 23 Village Lighting & Holiday Walk, Libertyville, 6:30PM, holiday activities with tree lighting at 7PM
- November 23 Festival of Lights Parade, Crystal Lake, 7PM
Saturday, November 24:
- November 24 Farmhouse Museum Tours, Kline Creek Farm, West Chicago, 10AM-4PM, tours on the hour, blacksmithing demo at 1:30, free
- November 24-25 Spring Valley Holiday Bazaar, Spring Valley Nature Center, Schaumburg, 10AM-4PM
- November 24-25 Gnome Globes and Gnome Hunt, Morton Arboretum, 11AM-2PM, Children's Garden, hunt for gnomes in the Children's Garden (hunt is free with admission), then create a globe to bring home, globes are $7 pp for members, $10 for non, must purchase ticket in visitor's center, limited number, admission is separate, weather permitting
- November 24 Dinosaur Encounter, Arlington Heights Memorial Library, 11:30AM-12:30PM, learn about dinosaurs and check out museum grade replicas and fossils, free but must register, minimum age is 4

- November 24 Cocoa Crawl, Roselle, 2PM Santa arrives at Roselle Public Library (can get tickets to see him starting at 1PM), cocoa crawl to participating businesses 2PM-5PM, other family activities, free
- November 24 Highwood Holiday Fest, City Park, Highwood, 2PM-7PM, family cookie walk, decorated shop windows, s'mores making, roasted chestnuts, carriage rides and more
- November 24 Tree Lighting, Prospect Heights, 5PM, hot cocoa too!
