Refreshing Meal After a Long Road Trip at Shakespeare and Co. on Lexington, Kentucky
We arrived in Lexington, Kentucky after a long nine hour drive from Annapolis. So, we were quite tired. We did a quick search of restaurants near our hotel and found that Shakespeare and Co. seemed to be a favorite with a menu featuring cafe selections with a few elements reflecting Middle Eastern flare. We were intrigued and it appeared there would be something refreshing to eat after a long ride. So, we went to check it out.

We actually learned later that Shakespeare and Co. is an outpost of a Dubai cafe chain. This is currently the only outpost in the USA. Although a chain, the rarity in the USA as well as decor made it quite a novelty. The menu features Saj which is a Mediterranean flat bread with a variety of preparations. Lamb skewers, hummus, lentil soup and more menu items make a nod towards the restaurant's Middle Eastern roots. We enjoyed our meals and returned on our last morning in Lexington for breakfast to check it out.
Breakfast Time:
Shakespeare and Co.'s menu features a variety of crepes. My husband had a crepe with fruit which included bananas, blueberries and strawberries.
My daughter, of course, went with a chocolate crepe.
I went with a pretty filling egg white omelette with herbs and roasted potatoes. Just what I needed to start the day!
Overall Impressions:
Overall, we loved the ambiance in Shakespeare and Co. The setting definitely is unique in terms of restaurants. We felt that lunch/dinner was much better than breakfast. Breakfast was a little more generic. However, the lunch and dinner menu had much more to offer and choose from. The setting is definitely fun and unique.
