Exploring Flavors and Sights of Canal Park in Duluth, Minnesota

On our first evening in Duluth, we explore Canal Park Brewing Company. What I loved about Canal Park Brewing Company along with many other restaurants we encountered in Duluth is their dedication to locally sourcing ingredients. We enjoyed a nice sampling of craft beer while settling on our meals. I liked how the sample tray had clear places for the label of each beer to be designated.

Amazing Grace Bakery and Cafe
For breakfast, we spoiled ourselves the most amazing meal at Amazing Grace Bakery and Cafe! My husband ordered eggs with hashbrowns, veggies and fresh baked bread. I ordered an omelette full of mushrooms along with hashbrowns and fresh baked bread. The jam we enjoyed was raspberry. Everything was delicious and fresh. The meals were very filling. Amazing Grace Bakery and Cafe also has lunch and dinner, live entertainment, baked goods and more. We definitely are returning on our next visit! I think I will have some baked items with my name on them.......

Art Around Canal Park:
Canal Park is not short on interesting scenes and vignettes. We had fun discovering public art as well as noting ghost signs on buildings.

Sipping at Vikre Distillery:
Vikre Distillery is a pretty intriguing find in Canal Park. The distillery features spirits influenced by Minnesota including gin, whiskey, vodka, rye and aquavit. Each has some flare from local ingredients. You can sit back, relax and sip at leisure and even see where the distilling is happening. Vikre Distillery is over all a laid back and relaxing spot with a bit of a vintage nod. We enjoyed taking a break from travel at this family-owned treasure.

Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center:
I have already shared our interesting exploration of all things maritime at the Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center. The center is home to a fabulous museum full of shipping and transportation history including shipwrecks. So, make a plan to explore while you are in Canal Park.

Melding of Historic and New
Canal Park is a former warehouse district and you can see quite a few of the warehouses renovated into other purposes. DeWitt-Seitz Co. building began as a warehouse and industrial site in 1909 and now is a home to shops and eateries. Amazing Grace Bakery and Cafe finds its home in this building.
Originally a warehouse and center for industry, the DeWitt Seitz Building now houses shops and eateries. |
