Hiking to Stunning Cascades at Gooseberry Falls State Park in Minnesota
While visiting Duluth, we certainly had waterfalls on our minds! On our first afternoon, we traced Lake Superior until we reached Gooseberry Falls State Park. Our nearly 3.5 mile hike greeted us with many vantage points to enjoy the falls and rapids.

Taking in a Series of Cascades:
Gooseberry Falls really is a series of falls. Most of the cascades are here but there is also an Upper Falls. This particular spot is breathtaking:

The Civilian Conservation Corps at Gooseberry Falls:
The Civilian Conservation Corps did work at Gooseberry Falls State Park from 1934-1942. About 80 structures are in the National Historic Archive. You can actually take a CCC Self Guided Legacy Tour to check out the structures. There is a statue commemorating the CCC's service. Two of my great uncles served in the CCC in Wisconsin, so it is always neat to note these structures and appreciate the work done so we can all enjoy these special natural sites. We are so appreciative!
