Chocolate, Summerfest, Fireworks, Dog Days and More Fun this Weekend in the Chicago Suburbs
The weekend is around the corner! Here are my picks including doggie fun, poetry walk, fireflies, fireworks, a chocolate celebration and more:

- June 29 Glenview SummerFest, 9AM-3:30PM, live music, beer tent, local vendors, kids activities and more, free admission
- June 29 Dog Days, Cantigny Park, Wheaton, 10AM-4PM, $10 per car parking, vendor booths, dog play area, disc dogs demos, kids can stuff a dog stuffed animal for $6, more, must have tags for current vaccinations, dogs must play well with others
- June 29-30 Anderson's Candy Shop 100th Anniversary Party, Richmond, live music, car show, puppies, chocolate biergarten, chocolate pancake breakfast, ceremony and cake, bingo and more, see website for more info and schedule
- June 29 Mad Hatter Tea Party, Mount Prospect Public Library, 11AM-11:45AM, see the Mad Hatter acted by puppets, must register, free
- June 29 Taste of Grayslake Family Picnic and Fireworks, 3PM-dusk, local food vendors, rides, kids' activities, live music, fireworks
- June 29 Touch a Truck, Bock Neighborhood Center, Schaumburg, 12PM-2PM, free
- June 29 Rock N The Runway, Wheeling, 5PM, live music, fireworks at 9:15PM, kids fun
- June 29 Light Up the Night with Fireflies, Crabtree Nature, Center, Barrington, 8PM, go on a guided hike to find and learn about fireflies, free but must register 847-381-6592
Sunday, June 30:
- June 30 Words in Bloom, Chicago Botanic Garden, 10AM-11:30AM, join in a poetry walk in the Japanese Garden, enjoy a writing exercise, free, parking for gardens is $30 per car
- June 30 River Round Up, River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 1:30PM, bring a change of shoes, wade in the river examine life below, free
- June 30 Tour Deerfield Historic Village, 2PM-4PM, tour the historic village with interpreters, free
- June 30 Bark in the Park, Boomers Stadium, Schaumburg, 6PM, bring your dog friends to the ball game, $11 tickets, reserve online
