Dragon Boats, County Fairs, Military Through the Ages, Greek Fest and More Family Fun in the Chicago Suburbs July 25-July 28, 2019
The weekend is just around the corner! There are quite a few great events coming up this weekend in the Chicago suburbs including one of my favorites -- dragon boats! Here are my picks:
Ongoing:
- May 18-September 21 Butterfly House, Peck Farm, Geneva, Mon-Sat 9AM-5PM, Sun 12PM-5PM, closed Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day, $2 pp donation, $5 per family
- May 25-September 2 Butterflies and Blooms, Chicago Botanic Garden, 10AM-5PM daily, see website for fees, weather dependent
- May 24-September 15 Nature Connects Lego Sculptures by Sean Kenney at The Morton Arboretum, comes with regular admission, see previous post for more details
- July 6-September 2 Bristol Renaissance Faire on Saturdays, Sundays and Labor Day

- July 27 Chicago International Dragon Boat Festival, Busse Woods, Elk Grove Village, 9AM-4:30PM, races, cultural village, health and wellness village, free admission
- July 27 Wizard Fest, Wheaton Public Library, 10AM-4PM, see schedule, bingo in the great hall, wand making, costume contest, butterbeer tasting and more. free
- July 27-28 Japanese Summer Festival, Anderson Japanese Gardens, Rockford, 10AM-3PM, with regular admission, tea ceremony, Japanese dance, martial arts demos, kids games and more, tea ceremony is an additional charge and you must register
- July 27-28 Glencoe Art Fair, 10AM-5PM
- July 27-28 Geneva Arts Fair, 10AM-5PM
- July 27-28 National Gathering of Native American Veterans, Cantigny Park, Wheaton, 8AM-6PM, traditional performances and artists, free with $10 parking
- July 27-28 Military Through the Ages, Cantigny, Wheaton, 10AM-4PM, encampments ranging from Rome to the Vietnam War, $10 parking
- July 27 Kids, Rigs and Heroes, Highland Park, St. Johns Avenue Parking Lot, 10AM-1PM, big trucks and vehicles, K9 demos and more, free
