Evenings have just gotten a little brighter this season with the new Lightscape lighting up Chicago Botanic Garden! My family explored Lightscape this past week and I have to tell you, we were WOWED!
Welcome to Lightscape!
Brilliant lights immediately impress! |
Merry, merry with brilliant trees! |
Dazzled by a Fire Garden!
Lightscape originally dazzled crowds in London and is making it's U.S.A. debut this year at the Chicago Botanic Garden! So, we are among the first to enjoy the brilliant twinkling displays during the US debut! We truly enjoyed every display from more traditional to the innovative including walking through the tall evergreens bedecked in vibrant hues and singing holiday songs.
The Fire Garden at Lightscape certainly wows! |
The Zen Garden was another pause point. Before seeing the garden, I would not have thought that that red and white would be soothing. Yet, the colors that danced really seemed zen.
Pausing at the entrance of the Golden Cathedral! |
Wandering through an illuminated Tulip Garden! |
The Tulip Garden was a bit tucked away and I noticed that people skipped over it. However, I enjoyed it and the teens that we visited with loved the back drop for a photo! There are a number of more displays as well as interactive stepping boxes. So much fun!
Nibbles and Sips:
Throughout the walk, there are a number of stops for refreshments. Some stops offer more of the snacky type of options while the main cafe at the Regenstein Center hosted the largest menu. We opted to eat inside and enjoyed some nibbles with accompanying sugar cookies, of course! I had a hearty cup of potato and leek soup which I could go for again right now!
You will find some wonderful winter comfort foods like special grilled cheeses, chili, mac-and-cheese and more! Plus, there are holiday faves including roasted nuts, hot chocolates, ciders and more. If you are curious, you can check out the Lightscape menus online before heading out.
A Brilliant and Cheerful Open to the Season:
We felt that Lightscape was such a beautiful and cheerful way to open the season! We discovered that the displays were quite unique in comparison to others that we have experienced in the past. As we wound through the adventure, we felt a true sense of awe!
Lightscape Details:
Lightscape runs through January 5. There are a variety of ticketing options, so check online. The event runs 4:30PM-10PM each evening. However, last entry is at 8PM.
Tips for Enjoying Lightscape:
- Order tickets ahead of time.
- I would try to go on a week night -- hopefully, it will be a little less crowded. However, timed tickets will help
- Dress for the weather
- Don't skip over displays! We noticed a number of people skipping over the Tulip Garden but we loved it!
