Virtual Local Art Experiences While Social Distancing
Recently, I have been using our time social distancing to stretch myself in art. I followed artist Gail Diedrichsen's tutorial on sketching your pet found on the Collie Rescue of Greater Illinois' Facebook Page and found it fun, engaging and even therapeutic! I thought some more of you may need ideas to explore with art! I have collected some great local art experiences to check out. I will be adding to this list during this time as I discover more:
- Pet Portrayals for both face and full body by Gail Diedrichsen. with Collie Rescue of Greater Illinois. Gail's tutorials are perfect for trying your hand at drawing!
- Sketching Tutorials from Scribbles and Strokes here in the NW suburbs will inspire you sketch all sorts of animals!
- Learn about Watercolors from local artist Maureen Claffy! Maureen is providing lessons for kids and adults.
- Explore Art with Batavia Fine Arts Centre -- the Batavia Fine Arts Centre Facebook Page has a mix of experiences and prompts to enjoy during this time.
- Paper Marbeling with the Kenosha Public Museum -- the Kenosha Public Museum has a wonderful video demonstrating how to marble paper!
- Water Color Demonstrations by Tom Lynch -- learn about water color on with Tom Lynch's videos and live streams!
- Paramount Theatre's Connection: A Social Media Concert Series -- Paramount Theatre in Aurora is calling both for local music talent to submit videos and having virtual watch parties. Check Facebook for more information and music prompts.
- See with an artist's eye with Cheryl Rausch Art -- not really tutorials but I highly recommend checking out Cheryl Rausch's feed. She shows a real glimpse into her work and what she is seeing as an artist.
- Live Water Color Demonstrations by Dale Popovich -- watch and learn from Observer Artist and Watercolorist Dale Popovich. Dale Popovich is offering free watercolor demos every Saturday at 12PM CST until our current situation is over. Her will repost to YouTube after.
