11 Nature Activities to Enjoy With Your Family While Social Distancing
Spring is here! If you are looking for a few more ideas, here are a few that I put together:
- Go for a walk in your neighborhood. Try to remain quiet and just observe what you see and hear.
- Go for a walk in a preserve if it is permitted in your area. Keep track of the changes in nature on each visit.
- Create a bird haven. You can order supplies to create your own bird friendly yard or even purchase them at a supply store if they are open.
- Take a magnifying glass outside in your yard and see what you can spy on a microlevel.
- Create stone and stick sculptures. You can even use all sorts of other nature materials that you may have in your yard such as wood chips, pine cones and more.
- Practice yoga outside. Great for all ages!
- Take out a sketch pad or a journal and let the creative juices flow while being surrounded by nature!
- Take turns creating nature scavenger hunts. Let each family member have a turn creating a nature scavenger hunt for the others.
- Take nature photos. It can be a lot of fun to see what you can capture in photo or practice your technique.
- Grow a garden. Gardens come in all shapes and sizes! You can grow flowers or veggies or fruit. You can grow in a large plot out back or a terra cotta pot on the deck.
- Create a fairy garden. You don't even need to purchase anything. You can cobble it from nature -- stones, sticks, fronds, bark and more!
These are fantastic ideas. Hoping that the weather cooperates and we can do some of these soon!
