Cuban Brothers Coffee Roasters and the Art of Slowing Down Savoring Coffee and Being in the Moment
**Disclosure: I did receive two complimentary roasts from CBC Roasters to sample and bring you this review and interview. No other compensation was received. All opinions are 100% my own.
A good cup of coffee has me sipping slowly, exploring and enjoying the notes. I am always comforted and able to just enjoy the moment with a warm mug of good coffee. I have gradually been exploring all of the amazing local coffee roasters here in the Chicago suburbs. Locally roasted coffee provides a bit of an escape from the every day without having to go far. My most recent coffee adventure led me to Cuban Brothers Coffee Roasters roasting coffee locally in Skokie. In addition to sampling and treasuring two different roasts from Cuban Brothers Coffee Roasters, I interviewed co-owner Dave Vergel to learn more about the heart behind this local roastery.
The best kind of package one can receive --- fresh roasts from Cuban Brothers Coffee Roasters! |
Cuban Brothers Coffee Roasters is a family-owned small business focusing on sharing excellent and interesting roasts with the public so we can all take time to slow down, enjoy downtime and even share the moment with friends and good conversation. The brothers wanted to bring the coffee experience they relished in while living in Cuba. The Cuban drink of choice is coffee but not to merely drink but to sip, savor and enjoy the moment. Dave explains: "Today is too busy. In Cuba, we enjoy coffee while sharing time with friends and really enjoying the moment sharing memories with our friends. You don't have to rush. Slow down for a moment."
Relaxing with a mug of Fiesta Roast! |
Each fresh roast crafted by Cuban Brothers Coffee Roasters is specially designed to help you slow down and enjoy those moments. Blends available may depend on the time of year. Soil, elevation, region, climate and weather affect the flavor of the beans make tasting coffee a true flavor experience. CBC Roasters' importer ensures that the coffee is sustainably grown. They work directly with farmers to provide them with education, teach them how to recycle the land and hire in the community. The beans are handpicked once they are perfectly ripe. The love the farmers have for growing and harvesting coffee can truly be tasted in the beans.
Experiencing the Dominican Republic Roast. |
I explored both CBC Roasters' Fiesta Blend and Dominican Republic Roast. Just WOW! I LOVED both roasts. I learned that CBC Roasters roasts their coffee 3-4 days before they bring roasts to the farmers' market. So, you are receiving a truly fresh roast. You can really tell how fresh the coffee is immediately upon smelling the roasts. I found both roasts to taste fresh and to have flavor that invites exploration. You really can taste the love and care that has gone into each roast from growing the beans to the roasting itself.

I so savored the experience of sipping quality coffee. The Fiesta Blend to me tasted like a delightful mosaic encouraging pausing to be in the moment. I look forward to trying more roasts from Cuban Brothers Coffee Roasters in the future. Plus, I will need Dave to whip me up a proper mocha using great coffee soon! Don't forget to check out this incredible local business this summer!
