Discovering Crystal Falls in Green Mountain Falls on the side of Pikes Peak in Colorado

While exploring waterfalls in the Colorado Springs area after our adventure North Cheyenne CaƱon Park, we discovered Crystal Falls cascade on the side of Pikes Peak in the lovely town of Green Mountain Falls.

Green Mountain Falls is home to two waterfalls -- Crystal Falls and Catamount Falls. We found it a bit tricky to find the trailhead for the waterfalls. You cannot park at the trailhead and will need to park at one of several locations in the town of Green Mountain Falls. From parking in town, it is a bit of the walk to either of the trailheads.

Green Mountain Falls is a charming town nestled in the Colorado mountains right on picturesque Green Mountain Falls Lake. If you have time during your visit, spend a little time wandering the quaint town and exploring the paths around the scenic lake. The effortless natural splendor of the lake immediately put me at ease providing a wonderful moment during our trip. If you are looking for a spot for a little picnic before a hike, this is a splendid one!

Discovering Thomas Trail and Crystal Falls

Since we did get a bit turned around looking for Thomas Trailhead, we were unable to complete the full hike. We were arriving at the point in the day where we needed to head back towards our home base in Denver as we embarked on the hike. Additionally, we were still getting adjusted to the heat on our trip. So, we only hiked to Crystal Falls and did not make it to Catamount Falls. However, if you plan ahead a little better than we did the Thomas Trail provides an opportunity to revel in the views of two magical waterfalls.

Since we were hiking on the north side of Pikes Peak, the trail ushered in a bit of a rocky challenge. While hiking up to Crystal Falls, we first encountered the bottom of the falls with  fans of crystal water flowing over boulders, We hiked further up to enjoy the top of the falls as a silver ribbon tumbled through and over boulders. Crystal Falls is not far from the trailhead on Boulder St. once you make your way to the trailhead from town.

While challenging, Thomas Trail treats to stunning waterfall moments in a striking landscape right on Pikes Peak. Although our hike was short, we basked in the natural enchantments all around.
