Celebrating Local Art and Local Business during Wheaton's "Love Where You Live" Window Art Event

Wheaton's "Love Where You Live" Window Art Event Celebrates Local During the Month of October

"Love Where You Live" creations add inspiring and whimsical window art in store fronts dotting downtown Wheaton. Each piece crafted by local artists encourages visitors to wander Wheaton discovering cheerful window art while exploring local businesses forming the fabric of the community.

I first learned about "Love Where You Live" from my friend, Chicago area illustrator and photographer Cheryl Rausch. She painted two of the window murals including the cheerful wildflowers at Suburban Music. The melodic design really brings a bit of the Illinois prairie to the downtown area. Cheryl had assistance from local artist Kathy Steere on this design.

The Downtown Wheaton Association and City of Wheaton Fine & Cultural Arts collaborated to craft this public art event marking National Arts & Humanities Month.

Over 30+ murals enliven business windows throughout the charming downtown. One easy favorite is Kimmer's featuring an ode to Wheaton's special fun throughout the year by artist Liesl Mann.

Weaving through downtown, we enjoyed spotting treasures throughout. A Windows Into Art: Love Where You Live map is available to help you discover these spots of joy while appreciating the small businesses calling Wheaton home.

While all of the window art is Instagram worthy, the public art exhibition has two special selfie stations including the fanciful angel wing design by Air Brush Art at Dry City Brew Works.

However, we noted visitors enjoying selfie snaps with a variety of pieces around town. One of my favorites included fall colors adorning the windows of Tasting deVine. With 30+ pieces, there is so much to discover.

Cheryl Rausch also painted the lovely kitten looking outside at butterflies at Carlson's Glass and Mirror. This is a fun little selfie spot -- even if it isn't on the list as such!

"Love Where You Live" certainly provides a little October adventure exploring the talents of local artists and small businesses that meld the heartbeat of Wheaton. We enjoyed our afternoon wandering the avenues of Wheaton looking for lighthearted and merry art pieces while learning more about the small businesses throughout town. Great one for an afternoon aside this month!
