March 1-31 Self Guided Trivia Trails, Lyons Woods Forest Preserve, Waukegan, 1.5 mile looped trail, trivia questions along the way
March 1-31 Self-Guided Maple Syrup Hikes, Ryerson Conservation Area, Riverwoods, follow the signs to learn about maple syrup production
March 13-28 Lucky Leprechaun Pot Of Gold Challenge, leprechauns have left their gold in three South Elgin parks, find the letters and put together three Irish names, submit per directions for a prize
March 20-27 Virtual Fan Fest, Mount Prospect Public Library, virtual events featuring Dungeons & Dragons, Sci-Fi, Superheroes, Disney, Hamilton and more
Dunn Museum in Libertyville is back open, please reserve timed ticket, learn about the history and natural history of Lake County, enjoy special exhibits as well, admission fee
Ongoing Naper Settlement is back open to the public including viewing the Women: Waves of Change exhibit. Naper Settlement is currently open Tuesdays - Fridays 10AM-4PM, $5 pp, must register ahead.
Saturday, March 20
March 20 & 21 Sap's Rising, River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 10:30AM or 1:30PM, take a walk and learn about maple syrup, call 847-824-8360
March 20 Wildlife Tracking and Observation, Willowbrook, Glen Ellyn, 2PM-4PM, develop your skills looking for tracks, for people over 12 years old, under 18 must be accompanied by an adult, $5 person, register online or 630-942-6200.
March 20 & 21 Maple Sugaring, Kline Creek Farm, West Chicago, 20 minute tours to learn about how maple syrup is made, demonstrations, 1PM, 1:30PM, 2PM, 2:30PM, 3PM, 3:30PM, $5 pp, must register, must wear a mask
March 20 Woodcock Walk, Plum Creek Nature Center, Crete, 6:30PM-8:00PM, ages 7 and older, free, must wear masks, the woodcock is very elusive but is most likely seen in the evening when the male does his courtship ritual
Sunday, March 21
March 21 Dog Admission Day, Morton Arboretum, Lisle, 7AM-sunset, designated areas, $5 per dog, normal admission for human visitors, must pre-register
March 21 Nature Detectives Signs of Spring Walk, Scavenger Hunt, St. James Farm, Warrenville, 2PM-4PM, ages 5 and up, under 18 must be accompanied by an adult, $5 pp, must register online or call 630-580-7025
