Here comes the weekend! Lots of fun this weekend including one of my favorites -- the return of the Butterfly House at Peck Farm! If you have never visited, I highly recommend it! Take a peek at my picks for the weekend:

Ongoing:

Dunn Museum in Libertyville is back open, please reserve timed ticket, learn about the history and natural history of Lake County, enjoy special exhibits as well, admission fee

Ongoing Naper Settlement is back open to the public Tuesdays - Saturdays 10AM-4PM,, Sundays 1PM-4PM, adults $10 pp, seniors 62+  $8, kids ages 4-12 $7, Naperville residents (with proof of residency), children under 4 and Naper Settlement Members are free, must register ahead. Also, visit the new Answering the Call: Naperville at  War exhibit focusing on WWII.

Through June 6 Simply Spring Butterfly Exhibit, Nicholas Conservatory, Rockford, enjoy viewing live butterflies flying in the conservatory and learn about their life cycle, $9 per adult, $7per child or senior, must pre-register

May 8 - October 10 Model Railroad Garden open at Chicago Botanic Garden, Adults: $8, Seniors: $7, Children (3 – 12): $6 Children (2 and under): Free Members receive $1 off each price Garden Plus members get in free on Wednesdays, tickets are at ticket booth in front of exhibit and have timed entry, must also reserve time to visit gardens and purchase parking online, parking: $25 per weekday, $30 on weekends

May 22 - September 18 Butterfly House at Peck Farm in Geneva is open Monday - Saturday 9AM-5PM, Sunday 12PM-5PM, suggested donation $2 pp or $6 per family, masks and social distancing required.

May 14 - August 29 To the Moon Snoopy Soars with NASA, Elmhurst History Museum, learn how Snoopy was part of NASA's Manned Flight Awareness safety program, learn about the Apollo program and more, free, timed entry required

Saturday, May 22

May 22 & 23 Children's Story Trail and Craft -- Kite Flying, Trailside, River Forest, 9AM-4PM, enjoy a story walk and pick up materials to craft a kite at home inside the nature museum

May 22 Nature Walk at Wood Dale Grove, 9AM-10AM, guided walk less than 2 miles, $5 pp, must register, under 18 must be accompanied by an adult, must wear a mask and distance

May 22 & 23 Northbrook Art in the Park, Northbrook, 10AM-5PM, explore art vendors, family activities, free but reserving timed entry is suggested, 

May 22 Yoga in the Park with Hop Along Kids Yoga, Klehm Park, Arlington Heights, 10AM, geared towards families with kids ages 2-6 but all are welcome, register online, $9

May 22  Reading the Rocks, Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art, Oak Brook, 10:30AM or 1:30PM, outdoor program in the museum's Rock Garden learning about rocks, social distancing and masks required, 30 min outdoors, 30 min indoor scavenger hunt, must register, $10 per adult, $8 seniors, $5 kids, for those 6 years old and older

May 22 Raptor Meet and Greet, Crabtree Nature Center, 11AM, meet the raptors of Crabtree and enjoy an up close visit with the preserve's tiniest raptor, free but you must register, call 847-381-6592, must wear masks and social distance

May 22 Civil War Living History Performance at the Sheldon Peck Homestead, 12PM-4PM, encampment and reenactment, free, please bring own chairs, must wear masks and social distance

May 22 & 23 The Progressive Farm: A Barnyard Tour, Kline Creek Farm, West Chicago, 1:30PM, 2:30PM, 3:30PM, learn about farming towards the end of the 19th century, costumed interpreter, free but tours are limited to 10 people, those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult, masks and social distancing required 

Sunday, May 23

May 23 Spring Stroll, River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 11:30AM, guided walk, free but must register, call 847-824-8360, must wear masks and physically distance

May 23  Longhouse Living, Isle a La Cache, Romeoville. 12PM-2PM, the longhouse will be open for viewing, learn about the daily live of the Potawatomi, free, must wear masks and social distance

May 23 Virtual Program Turtles of Lake County, via Forest Preserve District of Lake County, 2PM-3PM, must register, $3 pp
