On our recent getaway to the Quad Cities, we enjoyed pausing from our adventures to relax with some foodie finds throughout the region. From great dinners to sweet treats to locally roasted coffee, we found so many great food options. Follow us along on a tasty little journey:
Bent River Brewing Company
An evening jaunt to Bent River Brewing Company in Moline afforded us a brewery adventure as well as a nice spot for a pub meal. Bent River's menu features burgers, sandwiches, salads and noshing favorites. Just what you want from a brew pub! I went for a grilled chicken sandwich with a side of fries. I had not had fries in FOREVER, so I needed a treat. My husband went with the yummy pulled bbq pork sandwich.
While waiting for our meal, we sampled a few brews settling on one to take back to the hotel with our meals. Such a fun evening after a day of wandering!

Dead Poet's Espresso
We began the first morning of our getaway getting caffeinated at Dead Poet's Espresso! Located in a charming historic brick building, Dead Poet's Espresso roasts its own coffee and serves up a variety of coffee concoctions. The drink menu features additional noncoffee drinks including smoothies. Of course, I went for a mocha latte! Additionally, Dead Poet's Espresso serves breakfast and lunch. The breakfast menu includes a variety of wraps, sandwiches and baked goods. I went for a bagel and my husband ordered a potato breakfast wrap.

While waiting for our order, we enjoyed the charming decor of the coffee shop. Interesting antique pieces added more frivolity to the cozy spot. Poets adorned the walls wearing masks fitting the times. Once our order was ready, we popped outside to enjoy breakfast at a table outside in a public square. The perfect start to a spring morning!
The Shameless Chocoholic
My love for chocolate is fierce, so I have no choice but indulge in handcrafted chocolates when I travel. During our Quad Cities getaway, we were so fortunate to be staying mere footsteps away from a delightful local chocolate shop, The Shameless Chocoholic. Walking inside The Shameless Chocoholic, we immediately drifted off with the aroma of chocolate. The shop's chocolate counter is full of both classical favorite and inventive flavors. Red Velvet, Birthday Cake, Kahlua, Strawberry Split and Jack Daniels chocolates all intrigued! I ended up choosing the Aztec which had a lovely spice to it. My husband indulged in a Jack Daniels truffle! Our chocolates were delicious, rich and melt-in-your mouth indulgences. We also tried a box full of sweet treats later loving them all especially the raspberry truffle!

Contrary Brewing Co.
We visited Contrary Brewing Company in Muscatine, Iowa after our hike at Wildcat Den State Park. While we definitely enjoyed a nice sampling of local brews, we also enjoyed a nice barbecue meal sitting on the patio. Contrary Brewing Co.'s normal menu tempts with small bites and a range of interesting flatbreads. Great accompaniments to beer!

River House Bar & Grill
Moline's River House Bar & Grill has an ENORMOUS menu! Sandwiches, burgers, salads, appetizers, pastas, seafood dinners, feature dinners and more -- there is so much to consider when heading to River House Bar & Grill for a meal. While we did have a difficult time choosing, we eventually settled on chicken and waffles and crab cakes. Since we were on a getaway we could indulge, right? Well, we did with chicken and waffles! Plus, the crab cakes were dynamite! They are made with real crabmeat which is such a plus.Yummola!

Whitey's Ice Cream
Whitey's Ice Cream is a Quad Cities staple! Chester "Whitey" Lindgren (nicknamed for his white-blond hair) founded the local ice cream shop in 1933 in Moline. Churning its own ice cream, Whitey's offers a variety of flavors including mint chocolate chip as well as the interesting such as coconut joy and even special seasonal flavors including mango raspberry. With 8 locations across the Quad Cities, finding the sweet spot is pretty easy. While we went for scoops, Whitey's tempts with incredible concoctions including sundaes, freezes, floats, Bostons (milk shakes with sundaes on top), shakes and more. For us, it was an order of chocolate chip cookie dough for me and butter pecan for the hubs. Seriously DELICIOUS ice cream! Whitey's ice cream is so incredibly creamy and totally yum!

Redband Coffee Company
We began our second morning in the Quad Cities with lovely coffees from Redband Coffee Company in Davenport, Iowa. Of course, I had another mocha which was delightful! My husband went for a drip! Ordering through the pick up window, we also spied scones being baked!

Croissants, tarts, macarons, breakfast bars, all sorts of decadent bars, quiche and more -- there is a baked treat for everyone! We ended up choosing a broccoli and cheddar quiche and a millionaire bar.
