Delighting in Ravines, Wildflowers and a Rocky Beach at Sheridan Park in Cudahy, Wisconsin
Continuing on our adventurous Southeastern Wisconsin hikes, we traced Lake Michigan to discover Sheridan Park in Cudahy, Wisconsin. A few weeks ago, we hiked at Warnimont Park in Cudahy and loved it. So, we were excited to explore another park nestled on Lake Michigan.

Like Warnimont Park just to the south, Sheridan Park maintains a position on the Oak Leaf Trail. The trail connects both parks as well as a number of lovely green spaces in the Milwaukee area.

A Place to Stretch Out and Splendor in Nature
Sheridan Park provides a fantastic spot to delight in a picnic stretched out on a clover-covered, green lawn, let kids frolic on a nice playground, wander both paved and natural trails and bask in fantastic vistas. We love that Sheridan Park is so close to Warnimont Park yet each preserve crafts an entirely unique experience. With the close proximity, wanderers can experience both on the same day.

Water Views Immediately Delight at Sheridan Park
Quickly after parking at Sheridan Park, we noted a picturesque pond full of life with fluttering dragonflies, melodic swimming ducks, honking geese and singing frogs. A few anglers peacefully fished in this serene setting. Such a calm morning!
Turquoise Lake Michigan expands beyond rugged terrain. |
We explored the paved Oak Leaf Trail for a bit noting peeks of turquoise blue Lake Michigan emerging from between the trees. Soon, we embarked on trails descending down to the lake shore while admiring ravines.

Natural trails parallel the lake shore. The environment found at Sheridan Park nurtures a remarkable collection of native plants. We soaked in the brilliant pinks of Dame's Rockets during our June trek!

Finally, we reached the beach which is quite rocky. From the shore, we could see bluffs in the distance. We visited on a hot summer day and delighted in a cool breeze coming off of the lake. Such a perfect summer moment!

After soaking in lake views, we began our ascent back up to where we parked. My daughter, husband and I all reflected on our visit to beautiful Sheridan Park. We relished a family day appreciating the natural treasures at the park. Sheridan Park provides such a wonderful patchwork of adventures for families right along beautiful Lake Michigan!
