Family Fun in the Chicago Suburbs August 27-29, 2021

May 8 - October 10 Model Railroad Garden open at Chicago Botanic Garden, Adults: $8, Seniors: $7, Children (3 – 12): $6 Children (2 and under): Free Members receive $1 off each price Garden Plus members get in free on Wednesdays, tickets are at ticket booth in front of exhibit and have timed entry, must also reserve time to visit gardens and purchase parking online, parking: $25 per weekday, $30 on weekends
May 31 - September 6 Butterflies and Blooms, Chicago Botanic Gardens, 10AM-5PM, $25 parking during the week, $30 on weekends, tickets adults $8, seniors $7, children (3-12) $6, children 2 and under free, members $1 off, garden plus members free on Wednesdays, 10 visit pas $50 per members, $60 non members, must reserve timed-entry to garden, tickets for exhibit are at booth
May 22 - September 18 Butterfly House at Peck Farm in Geneva is open Monday - Saturday 9AM-5PM, Sunday 12PM-5PM, suggested donation $2 pp or $6 per family, masks and social distancing required.
May 14 - August 29 To the Moon Snoopy Soars with NASA, Elmhurst History Museum, learn how Snoopy was part of NASA's Manned Flight Awareness safety program, learn about the Apollo program and more, free
Ongoing Human + Nature at Morton Arboretum, Lisle, stunning natural sculptures to help connect people with trees, the exhibition includes 5 incredible sculptures, included with normal admission
Ongoing through Labor Day Local Art Pop Up at Izaak Walton Park in Prospect Heights
Ongoing Von Bergen's Sunflower Mazes, Hebron, ongoing as long as there are blooms, ticket reservation recommended, $12 per adult, $10 per child on weekends, $8 and $6 week days, $1 processing fee per ticket
Ongoing Richardson Farm Sunflower Festival, Spring Grove, Wednesdays-Sundays, $12 pp Wed-Fri, $15 pp Sat & Sun, includes one free sunflower, see website for more info
Ongoing - September 16 Par Excellence Redux at the Elmhurst Art Museum. This fun new interactive exhibit features 9 mini golf holes designed by both local artists and artists throughout the country. The exciting new exhibit honors the original Par Excellence exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1988. You must reserve a tee time. $10 per adult, $8 per senior, $5 for children and free for kiddies under 5.

August 28 - 29 Powtawatomi Trails Pow Wow, Shiloh Park, Zion, 10AM-10PM Sat, 10AM-5PM Sun, $8 adults, $2 children
August 28-29 Farmhouse Museum Tours, Kline Creek Farm, West Chicago, 10AM-4PM, learn what it was like to live on the farm and how farms served as building blocks of the rural community, free
August 28 Alley Art Festival, Downtown Aurora, 12PM-5PM, local artists, performers, kids activities and more
August 28 & 29 History Hike, Cantigny Park, Wheaton, 2PM-2:45PM, no registration, $10 parking
August 28 Hummingbird Sit, Sagawau Environmental Learning Center, Lemont, 1PM, enjoy learning about hummingbird habits and how to attract them to your yard

August 28 Grayslake Color Aloft, Central Park, Grayslake, hot air balloon festival, 3PM-9PM, also live music, kids activities, Civil War era baseball game and more
Sunday, August 29
August 29 Cicadas!, Crabtree Nature Center, 1PM, learn about the cicada life cycle and how each species calls to each other, free but must register
