The weekend is here! Plus, fall fun is popping up all over! Here are my family fun picks for this weekend:


Ongoing

May 8 - October 10 Model Railroad Garden open at Chicago Botanic Garden, Adults: $8, Seniors: $7, Children (3 – 12): $6 Children (2 and under): Free Members receive $1 off each price Garden Plus members get in free on Wednesdays, tickets are at ticket booth in front of exhibit and have timed entry, must also reserve time to visit gardens and purchase parking online, parking: $25 per weekday, $30 on weekends

May 22 - September 18 Butterfly House at Peck Farm in Geneva is open Monday - Saturday 9AM-5PM, Sunday 12PM-5PM, suggested donation $2 pp or $6 per family, masks and social distancing required.

Ongoing Human + Nature at Morton Arboretum, Lisle, stunning natural sculptures to help connect people with trees, the exhibition includes 5 incredible sculptures, included with normal admission

September 11 - November 7 Richardson Corn Maze, Spring Grove, try weaving through the World's Largest Corn Maze and enjoy fall farm fun, open Thursdays-Sundays and Columbus Day, see website for hours and prices

September 17 Naper Nights, Naper Settlement, Naperville, 5PM-10PM, 6PM Doors  Tribute, 8PM Rolling Stones Tribute, bring a picnic, $15 per adult, $10 per child, please purchase tickets online

September 17-19 Fall Fest, Des Plaines, Lake Park, live bands, kids fun, carnival, history center tent, car show (Sept 19) and more, see schedule

September 17-19 Heritage Fest, Dundee, carnival, art and craft fair, fireworks (Friday), parade (Sunday), and more, see website for schedule

Saturday, September 18

September 18 Autumn Fair, Peck Farm, Geneva, 11AM-3PM, birds of prey presentation, pumpkins, petting zoo, hayrides, pony rides and more, free admission but ticket purchases for certain activities

September 18-19 Deerfield Harvest Fest, live music, fireworks (Sat), touch-a-truck and more, see website for schedule 

September 18-19 Lisle Depot Days, The Museums at Lisle Station Park, 12PM-5PM, history demos,r high wheel bicycles, antique cars, petting zoo, Civil War medical encampment and more, free 

September 18 Tour Viking  -- The Viking Ship in Geneva, 1PM-4PM, $7 pp age 18+, children free, must wear mask and social distance, must register for a time

September 18 Water Lantern Festival, Aurora, RiverEdge Park, 3:30PM-8:30PM, live music, food trucks, lantern launch, go to website to see ticket info

September 19 Cantigny Car Show,  Cantigny Park, Wheaton, 9AM-3PM, $10 parking per car

September 19 Unburied Treasure Hunt, River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 11AM-2PM, pick up a treasure map at the preserve's welcome tent and look for nature treasures
