Family Fun in the Chicago Suburbs October 8-10, 2021
Things are starting to get a little spooky and fall colors are popping up! Here are my ideas for family fun this weekend in the Chicago suburbs:

May 8 - October 10 Model Railroad Garden open at Chicago Botanic Garden, Adults: $8, Seniors: $7, Children (3 – 12): $6 Children (2 and under): Free Members receive $1 off each price Garden Plus members get in free on Wednesdays, tickets are at ticket booth in front of exhibit and have timed entry, must also reserve time to visit gardens and purchase parking online, parking: $25 per weekday, $30 on weekends
Ongoing Human + Nature at Morton Arboretum, Lisle, stunning natural sculptures to help connect people with trees, the exhibition includes 5 incredible sculptures, included with normal admission
September 11 - November 7 Richardson Corn Maze, Spring Grove, try weaving through the World's Largest Corn Maze and enjoy fall farm fun, open Thursdays-Sundays and Columbus Day, see website for hours and prices

Ongoing through October 31 Scarecrow Trail, Morton Arboretum, enjoy a trail of scarecrows crafted by local scout troops and organizations, included in admission
Ongoing through October 31 Carol Stream Halloween Decorating Contest: The Carol Stream Halloween Decorating Contest is one of my favorite haunts every Halloween! Entrants really know how to craft spooky, eerie and whimsical Halloween scenes. There will be a map posted to the website in October. The deadline to enter is October 22.
Ongoing through October 31 on Friday and Saturday evenings, Terror in the Timbers, Elgin, 6PM-12AM, drive-through Halloween experience, $65 per car, add-on option of Haunted Hike $25 per car

Ocotber 8-10 The Great Highwood Pumpkin Festival: Imagine being surrounded by hundreds of beautifully carved pumpkins! The Great Highwood Pumpkin Festival in Highwood crafts a magical experience among jack-o-lanterns. This year's festival is Oct. 8-10.
October 8-10 St. Charles Scarecrow Festival: Scarecrows invade St. Charles for the annual festival to be held on October 8-10 this year. Scarecrows crafted by businesses, families and organizations will be found all over town. Visitors will vote for their favorites in a variety of categories. Family activities, window decorations and a craft fair will add to the fun. Check website for times.

October 9 Fall Festival, Cantigny Park, Wheaton, 10AM-4PM, giant juggling scarecrow, craft show, hayrides, live music, giant bubble making and more, $5 parking, small fees for some activities
October 9, 10 & 11 Pumpkin Weekends, Blackberry Farm, Aurora, PumpkinWeekends on Blackberry Farm treat families to pumpkin fun while visiting the farm. Enjoy a pumpkin patch and pumpkin-themed activities. Purchase tickets online. Pumpkin Weekends are held on weekends in October and Columbus Day.
October 9 DIY Scarecrow Day, Long Grove, 11AM-6PM, $10 fee for base and stuffing, bring your own clothes; hayrides, pumpkin painting, live music and more
