Evanston Made recently crafted a holiday market full of creativity, innovative spark and unique holiday gifts. I visited this week and was pretty impressed with how the market wove together a wide variety of local art for purchase with art experiences. Take a peek inside of this wonderland of inspiration:
The Shop Evanston Made Holiday Market is a wonderland of creative, locally made gifts. |
Evanston Made's Holiday Market is being held inside of an old Urban Outfitters! The transformation is remarkable! While exploring, I felt like I was in an art gallery. The airy space holds plenty of room to move around. Throughout the location, art hangs along walls while larger installations beckon for exploration.

When entering the building, you are prompted to join a community art project crafting a mobile full of butterflies! Don't forget to add your touch.

Additionally, there is a fun selfie station with a piece full of textures and colors for a background.

Winding up the stairs, I paused to admire art lovingly hung on the wall. Additionally, a poem has been laid out on the stairs so look down.

Upstairs, I found some large-scale installations. The space is flowing and changing daily, so new additions continue to emerge. I was so fortunate to visit while graphic artist Russel Muits of Storm Print City was putting together his installation. Russ crafts colorful and intriguing relief images. The reliefs are of structural elements we would commonly overlook such as manhole covers, water meter covers and more. After viewing his pieces, I could see the intricacy of these industrial elements that we pass by daily. Russ crafts interesting assemblages of the pieces including the below piece reflecting the L.

The creative hub will host art events during its run including live music and film showings. When I arrived, I expected more of a traditional market with a bevy of locally handmade items. Instead, I found quite a creative haven that engages visitors from the beginning.

I found art items charmingly presented throughout the shop. Of course, I did find a treasure -- a hand-carved rose mug! Truly a space full of treasures with items to entice everyone!
