Fall Run Park's proximity to Pittsburgh made the location a fantastic option for a little hike while we were visiting the city. The preserve is entirely picturesque. Fortunately, we took the opportunity to seize on a sunny afternoon to wander the trails of this spectacular preserve.

Located in the Allegheny Mountains, the landscape of Fall Run Park inspires with unique patterns of outcrops, boulders molded by nature and gentle folds rising above. The gorge immediately captivated us! Hiking on a sunny March afternoon, we enjoyed how the spring sun warmed up the rich brown hues of the remaining fall leaves.

Hiking along the trail offered us splendid views of the creek rolling over slabs of rock creating rapids here and there. Overall, the hike to the waterfall is not too long and fairly gentle until the stairs. However, the pleasant trickle of the creek through the breathtaking landscape crafted zen moment after zen moment.

Ascending the stairs to the top of the waterfall, we admired a variety of views of the waterfall. Simply beautiful. The grace of the silver ribbon of water cascading down the gorge enticed us to stop at various points.

We meandered along our route back from viewing the waterfall, stopping in spots to take in the entire landscape capturing the moment before returning to Pittsburgh. Fall Run Park is a stunning nature haven and worthy of adding to your hiking list when visiting the Pittsburgh area and exploring the Allegheny Mountains.
