"The Art of the Magic Mushrooms" Pop Up Art Installation Enchants at Izaak Walton Park in Prospect Heights, IL

A local art pop-up once again adds a little whimsy and imagination to the beautiful natural scenery at Izaak Walton Park in Prospect Heights. Izaak Walton has become a haven for little adventures for my family since we discovered it last year. My husband and I recently wandered over to scout for birds in the preserve and lit up with delight when we spotted a new art pop-up!

This year's theme for the pop-up happens to the mushroom. We enjoyed exploring playful pieces featuring adorable mushrooms in a variety of settings. "The Art of the Magic Mushrooms" will have visitors smiling all season and I look forward to spotting new additions to the art assemblage.

Last year, pieces popped up throughout the summer. We are so grateful for the creative gifts of our local artists displayed in the world of the ultimate painter, Mother Nature. 

Art pieces can be discovered all over the entrance and pavilion area of the park. We love exploring creativity in the natural setting. You never know what you will see and how it will fit in with nature.

Our favorite piece thus far is a great horned owl at sunset mural. Breathtaking! The mural is spectacular and I love how it is set with in the natural surroundings.

Wild geraniums add some extra beauty to Izaak Walton Park.

Izaak Walton Park features several short nature trails. There also is an overlook where you can scout for waterbirds. A boardwalk also provides a great way to experience the preserve's wetland environment. We spot all sorts of birds while in the preserve. During spring, summer and fall we enjoy observing a range of wildflowers. 

We look forward to more wanderings at Izaak Walton Park this summer. The blend of new art and nature's changes will paint a new adventure for each visit.
