Lightscape At Chicago Botanic Garden Blends Nature And Holiday Magic

Lightscape once again captivates and uplifts revelers wandering a path through stunning light and sound displays highlighting the joy of nature at Chicago Botanic Garden. Enjoying its fourth year, Lightscape has quickly become a family favorite that we look forward to year after year. Take a peek at a little of what the magical journey offers this season:

The Fire Garden Enchants Once Again
This year's rendition of the Fire Garden crafts a dreamy scape of fire lanterns gracefully dangling from candelabras in the rose garden. The path around the rose garden provides plenty of points for a pause to just absorb the scene. Truly beautiful!

The Japanese Garden offers another highlight as lights danced in colorful melodies on the intricately sculpted garden. One of my favorite sections features leaves gently floating displaying delicate detail. Truly beautiful!

The entire winding path through Lightscape full of lights and sounds delights the spirit. Sections between larger displays add to the experience with their own smaller light displays in the trees.

Lightscape has a variety of spots to stop for food and beverages. However, only one has s'mores! We enjoyed popping along the basin to take in colorful water mists above the water and warm up at firepits. This spot is the only one that has s'mores, so be sure to enjoy this favorite winter treat here while watching the mist morph in shape and color!

Dazzled By Firefly Lanterns
Soon, we rounded a corner and were immediately enchanted by a path lit up by firefly lanterns! Truly a magical experience, so we slowed our strolling pace just to be totally in the moment. We were wrapped up in pure childhood delight.

Each lantern along the route appeared to hold little fireflies dancing about. This is certainly one of the most beautiful light displays Lightscape has had! The way that Lightscape captures an appreciation for nature and holiday magic is breathtaking.

As we continued to make our way through this year's displays, we marveled at origami birds floating above in the trees. Such delicate and at the same time bold beauty!
Dancing The Night Away At The Disco

Last year, the bonsai garden was transformed as light danced through stained glass shapes. This year, the patio became a fun disco. Exploring, you cannot help getting caught up in the moment dazzled by light refracted by disco ball prisms and music with peppy beats.

We paused at Nicholas Hall for some nibbles including a pub pretzel, seasoned waffle fries, and festive holiday sugar cookies. Lightscape boasts a wide variety of snacks including cinnamon-sugar churros with chocolate sauce, warm candied nuts, quattro formaggi mac and cheese, vegetarian chili, and more. After our brief snack, we returned to the trail and soon discovered fan favorite Winter Cathedral!

The trail culminated at Spheric which twinkled and crafted a bit of a Milky Way vibe! Strolling around this display, I was transported somewhere magical for a moment in time. Another experience of pure delight!

Once again, Lightscape welcomed us to a magical world for a little bit on a lovely evening. Every year the blend of new designs, old favorites, and reimagined displays dazzles us. Lightscape is a spectacular holiday tradition that will continue to amaze families for years to come. This year's event will be ongoing through January 8, 2023.
