A Top Work Retreat Getaway Near Chicago at The Abbey Resort in Fontana, Wisconsin

The Abbey Resort in Fontana, Wisconsin welcomes visitors to one of the best Chicago area getaways offering a haven where you can work while enjoying a little recharge. Winter can be tough especially if you are a person that works primarily at home like me. I often yearn for a change of location and scenery after being cooped up during gray days . Recently, I escaped to The Abbey Resort for a bit of a working getaway. The perfect balance of amenities, comfort, and serenity allowed me to expand creatively while treating myself.

I began my little getaway checking out my lovely room -- comfortable and just perfect for a cozy yet productive couple of days. My room was spacious with a comfy couch and nice view. Just what I needed for a working vacation!

Best Lake Geneva Area Getaway For Rejuvenation And Inspiration

Throughout the resort, I discovered ample lounge space so I could easily change my creative nook. Many spots offered a fabulous view allowing, my mind to wander a little while working on my writing. For me, tiny escapes often fire up my thinking in different ways inspiring me to level up my work. So, I made fantastic progress on my working including a book that I am writing.

I love that The Abbey has everything there for you -- lovely Geneva Lake views, tasty food choices, adjoining resort buildings, and entertainment. Since you do not really need to leave the resort for anything during your stay, it alleviates some planning permitting your mind to further refresh. For me, this inspires new thoughts and discoveries since my mind is not bogged down in the mundane.

A nice coat of snow fashioned The Abbey into a winter wonderland during my visit -- very fitting for the resort's Alpine ski lodge design! I loved little breaks from my room to enjoy the snow a little. In warmer months, soaking up the nature of the resort would further enhance my creative fire.

With the wonderful restaurants 240 West and Waterfront, The Abbey offers a range of dining that will definitely satiate your taste buds. I visited 240 West during my getaway. I enjoyed Our Tomato Bisque on my previous visit so much that I had to have it again! So delicious! I also devoured the Seared Salmon which was accompanied by a healthy Baby Kale Salad. The corn puree provided an intriguing and addictive flavor. I did indulge with the flourless chocolate cake -- incredible! Once again, a stellar meal at 240 West. I will be back!

Renewal and a Creativity Recharge at Avani Spa

Being able to pamper myself to a facial at Avani Spa further rejuvenated my spirit. The relaxation ignited my mind in a different way. Being able to enjoy some peace, solitude, and meditation while savoring my facial helped me center for the rest of the day. Self care often feels so indulgent but we truly need it.

After two visits to Avani Spa, I can truly say the spa is a place of total tranquility and renewal. I quite enjoy the facials. Plus, there is a salt room, steam room, sauna, a pool, and more.

A Little More Productivity

After my facial, I enjoyed another couple of hours of writing before leaving to return home. With a clear head and a refreshed outlook, I was able to complete sections where I was previously stuck. While preparing to leave, I reflected on the experience feeling accomplished in both working on my book and relaxing.

During my first visit to The Abbey Resort in November, I quickly noted that the resort would be a wonderful little enclave for a working escape. After my return this year and experiencing The Abbey Resort for a work vacation, I can confidently say that my instincts were correct and it is an ideal location for a  getaway fusing both work and a little recharge!
